National Webinar Series on Specific Learning Disabilities (Dyslexia)
National Webinar Series on Specific Learning Disabilities (Dyslexia) was organized by AIWEFA (All India Women’s Education Fund Association) and has the most eminent experts from the field – pan India and also abroad. The Knowledge partner was Department of Education Lady Irwin College and Media Partners was Voice 4Ability.
With the backdrop of the NEP2020 and RPwD Act 2016 and with the overarching global research evidence that the individuals with Specific Learning Disabilities have average or above average intelligence as well as that they constitute nearly 10% to 15% of any population, yet this child with neuro-developmental disability is mostly misunderstood by the education system and by society at large.
The eminent panellist focused their discussions from their reflections, practical experiences and research based evidence and thus enable us to gain insight into the brain structures and functional variations, categories of specific learning disabilities and their challenges as well as the strategies for learning- teaching process, to concerns, issues and contemporary contextualisation of assessment processes to what is it like to be an SLD, a parent of a SLD and a teacher or an school principal of a SLD. The five webinars of the National Webinar Series sought to address the different aspects related to Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD), often commonly referred to as Dyslexia.
