AIWEFA administers the Nina Sibal Memorial Award for an NGO working on disability, with the endowment made by Shri Kapil Sibal, then former Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Science & Technology & Earth Sciences, in memory of his late wife Smt. Nina Sibal. The award is to encourage organisations which are managing and educating disabled and disadvantaged children through innovative methods.
In recognition of the commitment of visionaries who have devoted their lives for the cause of freedom and justice the “AIWEFA Stree Ratna” award was instituted. The award honours outstanding achievers for their advocacy in empowerment of women through education, health, nutrition and economic independence.
AIWEFA found a person, who had made an outstanding contribution to remove drudgery for women, for their one time ” Lifetime Achievement AIWEFA Platinum Jubilee Award” in Mr. Bindeshwar Pathak, Founder Sulabh International Social Service Organisation. Mr. Pathak is an icon of the sanitation movement not only in India but also in the entire world; he has made a difference in the lives of millions of people.
